Beatrice Olufunmilayo ISHOLA was born on 30th of January 1965 at Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
She attended ECWA Primary School, Oke-Ode and proceeded to Oke-Ode Grammar School for her secondary education between 1977 and 1982. She attended Kwara State College of Education between 1986 1nd 1989 for her National Certificate in Education (NCE). She obtained her first degree in English in 1999 at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin. In her quest for additional knowledge, she obtained her M.Ed. degree in English Language Education in 2015.
Her working career commenced in 1983 when she was appointed as Clerical Assistant on 22nd February 1983. She was promoted in 1990 to Clerical Officer, Senior Clerical Officer in 1993, Assistant Executive Officer in 1998. She was appointed Assistant Planning Officer in 2003 and rose to Senior Planning Officer in 2011. She responded to an internal advertisement by the University and was appointed as Senior Assistant Registrar in September 2012. She was promoted to Principal Assistant Registrar in 2015, and promoted to the position of Deputy Registrar on 1st October 2018.
In effect, her experience as a university administrator has spanned a period of twenty (20) years. It is obvious that her career and robust postings within the University system have exposed her to the workings of a University Administration, specifically at the University of Ilorin. Her years of service (junior and senior) in Academic Planning Unit exposed her to deep understanding and implementation of the University of Ilorin Act U7 of 1979 No. 81 as it related to Section 3 a and b. Section (a) deals with the establishment of campuses, colleges, faculties, institutes, schools, departments and other teaching and research units. Her grasp of human resources and establishment issues were deepened when she worked briefly at the junior staff section of the Directorate of Human Resources and now at the senior (non-teaching) section of the human resources. She worked at the Faculty of Law, where she was the Secretary, Faculty Board, Board of Studies, Promotion review panels where she got the knowledge of registration of students, preparation for examination, monitoring, preparation of graduation lists and other faculty activities. She gained further experience as head of administration at the Vice Chancellor’s Office where she was exposed to workings with the Chief Executive Officer of the University and hold fort on several occasions for the Registrar when necessary.
Beatrice Olufunmilayo Ishola holds the membership of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), the foremost Professional Association for Nigerian University Administrators. She is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management and current chairperson of the Unilorin Chapter. She is also a member of the International body of the Association of University Administrators (AUA), Manchester, United Kingdom.
Beatrice Olufunmilayo Ishola has participated in several local and foreign manpower and leadership development trainings, conferences and workshops. She has equally served in different capacities on several committees. Indeed, in recognition of her sound judgements, disposition for hard work, achievements and excellent performances, she was awarded “Merit Award” in 2018 by the University of Ilorin, Ilorin.
Mrs. Ishola is a professional University Administrator, with abiding moral rectitude, a good team player and stakeholder who is committed to the academic and administrative excellence of the University. She enjoys excellent mental and physical health. She is happily married and blessed with children.
