The University of Ilorin has been described as the most alluring, compelling and attractive University to international students seeking a top-notch education. This is possible because of its track record of excellence, stable academic calendar and report of teeming graduates of the institution who are doing well in their various careers.
This was the consensus of opinion of the international students of the University who spoke at a luncheon organised for them by the Vice Chancellor of the institution , Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, on Monday, January 1, 2024 at the Vice Chancellor’s Lodge.

Mr Ibrahim stated that “I chose UNILORIN for its modest reputation, a crucial factor considering the background I come from. The institution is known for providing excellent training to its students, and this was a significant consideration for me”.
He went on to identify the University’s welcoming atmosphere, describing it as a comfortable home for international students.
Mr Ibrahim expressed gratitude for the simplified processes that make the University be like a home away from home. He also commended the fast-paced academic calendar, which allows for efficient progress in studies.

Secondly, both of my brothers are proud graduates of this University, with one completing his studies in the History Department. Lastly, I heard that the University warmly welcomes and values international students, an aspect of the University’s culture that further motivated me to become a part of the UNILORIN community,” she explained.

He said his mentor, who is also a proud graduate of the University of Ilorin, played a pivotal role in guiding him through the admission process, ultimately securing him a coveted place at the prestigious institution.
While observing that the journey to the most sought-after University was not without its challenges as he faced the daunting task of transitioning from being a third-year student (300L) in Cameroon to starting afresh as a first-year student (100L) at UNILORIN. He said despite the initial hurdles, he persevered, demonstrating resilience and commitment to his academic goals.
Also speaking, another Cameroonian who is studying Civil Engineering at the University, Mr Houatchueng Tadjuidje Maurel, said his decision to enroll at the institution was not arbitrary; rather, it was influenced by the success and recommendations of his elder brother, who graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in the last academic session.
