We are ready to stop fire disasters- Ibrahim

The Head of the Fire Service Unit, University of Ilorin, Mr AbdulRazaq Olanrewaju Ibrahiim, has expressed the readiness of his Unit to stop fire disasters within and around the University campus.

            Mr Ibrahim stated this last Tuesday (January 2, 2024) while featuring on a special edition of  ‘‘Oro to nlo’’,a current affairs programme of UNILORIN 89.3 FM, the official radio station of the University of Ilorin. The programme was anchored by the Head of the Station, Mr Idris Akintola Ibrahim (Alooma)

            The Head of UNILORIN Fire Service noted that the society cannot do without fire because our day-to-day activities involved its use.

Mr Ibrahim spoke on various human activities that can cause fire disasters such as dry season burning, throwing of cigarettes butts, and arson as well as misuse of electrical appliances.

He also explained different ways that fire disaster can be prevented from happening.

Mr Ibrahim stated that his men are always at alert to put fire disasters under control as he added that it was hightime fire extinguishers were purchased for domestic use.

He also encouraged listeners to ensure that they always switch off all light appliances in their offices and homes after use.

Mr Ibrahim commended the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for providing all the necessary equipment needed for the work of the Fire Service unit.

 He pleaded that his Unit would be better equipped if more hands are engaged.
