‘UNILORIN synonymous with quality service delivery’

The Ag. Provost, Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, Dr Ayinde Shehu Jawondo, has said that the University of Ilorin is a reputable institution of learning that is renowned for high quality service delivery.

The Provost stated this last Wednesday (April 17, 2024) while speaking at the matriculation ceremony of new students of the College admitted into various degree programmes affiliated to the University.

Dr Jawondo said that the University is also synonymous with quality learning, seriousness, uprightness and devotion to the deepening of human development capacities.

He explained that the age-long attributes of  UNILORIN informed the decision of his institution to affiliate its degree programmes to the nation’s most sought-after University.

The Provost, who described himself as an undiluted UNILORIN product, thanked a former Provost of the College, Prof. Abdulraheem Yusuf, for initiating the affiliation during his tenure as the Chief Executive of the teacher-producing institution.

Dr Jawondo who thanked the University of Ilorin for the privilege given to his College to run the programmes in affiliation to it.

He also appealed to the matriclated students to take proper advantage of the opportunity to distinguish themselves in learning and character for their personal growth and national development.

Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, welcomed the College and the new students to a lifelong partnership with the University of Ilorin.

The Vice Chancellor, who was represented by the Director, Institute of Education and former Provost of the College, Prof. AbdulRaheem Yusuf, said that the event held ‘‘immense promise, opportunities and challenges for the new students and the two institutions.

He urged the new students “to embrace the values of integrity, diligence, and excellence that are the cornerstone of our institution” for them to become worthy professionals and responsible citizens.’’

Prof. Egbewole also encouraged the new students to ‘‘nurture their curiosity, cultivate a passion for learning and dare to dream big’’, saying that those who dream big and pursue their dreams enjoy lives of accomplishments.

While telling the students that their time in the course of their various programmes should be marked by high sounding academic achievements, the Vice Chancellor also encouraged them to embrace personal growth, leadership development and forging  lifelong friendships.

Earlier in her address, the Director, University of Ilorin Affiliated Programmes, Kwara State College of Education, Mrs A. O. Sanusi, expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah for making the event a reality.

Mrs Sanusi also thanked the authorities of the University of Ilorin and the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, for the interactions, understanding and collaborations that birthed the affliation.

The Director explained that the ceremony was a culmination of many years of hard work and resource verification and evaluation embarked upon by the two institutions as she said that only 181 students were successful after a vigorous screening.

She enjoined the matriculated students to see themselves as undergraduate students of the University of Ilorin who must abide by the rules and regulations of the University and those of the College for them to have a peaceful and rewarding sojourn at the institution and a great future after their programmes.

The Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, who was represented by a Deputy Registrar and Secretary, College of Health Sciences, Mr Ahmad Rufai Sidique, later administered the Matriculation Oath on the new students.

A cross section of the matriculants, who spoke with UNILORIN BULLETIN at the sidelines of the event, expressed appreciation to the two institutions for their admissions.
