UNILORIN assures stakeholders of quality service delivery

The SERVICOM Focal Officer, University of Ilorin, Mrs Omowumi O. Azeez, has assured both the internal and external stakeholders of the University of quality service delivery.

Mrs Azeez  specifically assured both the staff and students of the University of adequate service delivery, saying that no one would be denied of his or her rights within and outside the campus.

The SEVICOM Focal Officer gave this assurance last Wednesday (March 13,2024) while speaking with UNILORIN BULLETIN in her office.

She explained that the SERVICOM Unit is the engine of quality service in the University and therefore called on both staff and students of the institution to always report any poor service delivery and service failure on campus to the Unit for immediate attention.

The Focal Officer emphasised that students are free to  make complaints of any nature either formally or informally, without any fear of intimidation as she assured that action would be taken to redress the situation.

She also explained that efforts were ongoing to obtain the approval of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, to install  complaints boxes across the University to enable students lodge their complaints about any form of service failure on campus.

Speaking further on the responsibilities of the SERVICOM Unit to Students, Mrs Azeez outlined some of the services that students can complain about when not given.

Such  complaints include when lectures are not delivered as scheduled; when students experience missing scripts/results/grades; when students academic grades are wrongly calculated and when anyone is not attended to or being treated nastily or unfairly by any staff member.

Other areas that can be complained about are when students are not allowed to access the library, when they do not get the value for their money for anything they purchased on the campus and when students don’t enjoy the essential amenities in any hostel accommodation; and when they are not given access to quality health services among others.

Mrs Azeez pointed out that the main activities of SERVICOM include monitoring the quality of service delivery by all service providers in places like Hostels, Library, Academic Support Unit, Security Unit, University Health Services, ICT among others.

She explained that the SERVICOM service providers are staff members of the University in different Faculties, Directorates, Divisions, Departments, Centres and Units of the University, offering a variety of services as part of their obligations to the clients/customers that include staff, tenured, contract, sabbatical, ad-hoc, adjunct, corp members as well as undergraduate and Postgraduate students among others.
