UNILOMGA marks 10th anniversary, gets new exco

The University of Ilorin Muslim Graduates Association (UNILOMGA)  marked its first decade of existence on Sunday, March 24, 2024. The event concided with the Association’s third annual  Ramadan Lecture.

Speaking at the online event, the Guest Lecturer, Shaykh Nuruddeen Lemu, who spoke on  “Financial Literacy in Changing Economic Times”, emphasised the importance of Financial Literacy in the lives of contemporary Muslims.

Shaykh Lemu, who is the Director of Research and Training at the Dawah Institute, Islamic Education Trust, Minna, Niger State, highlighted how Muslims can leverage Islamic principles towards recording remarkable improvement in their personal economy.

In his remarks at the event, the former President of UNILOMGA, Imam Zunurain Olodan, expressed gratitude to all participants for gracing the occasion.

Imam Olodan equally thanked the interim executives for their concerted efforts towards the success of the Association.

He reflected on the accomplishments of the Association over the past decade and outlined its vision for the future.

Imam Olodan also urged members of the Association to rally behind its new executives as he also urged the new leaders of UNILOMGA to unite in working for the welfare and advancement of its members.

In his address on the occasion, the Chairman of the University of Ilorin Muslim Community, Prof. Mudashiru Olalere Yuusuf, commended the Association for its efforts in uniting the Muslim alumni of the institution.

Prof. Yusuf pledged the continued support of the UNILORIN Muslim community to the stability, progress and development of  UNILOMGA .

In a related development, which was based on a report presented by the Chairman of the Association’s leadership selection committee (Shura), Barrister Ashimiyu, a former Chairman of the Abeokuta Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr Ibrahim Atanda has emerged as the new National President of the Association while Dr Aboyeji Lukman  Oyewole would serve as National Deputy President (Male) as the Registrar of the Kwara State University, Malete, Dr Kikelomo Wasilah Sallee-Amogbonjaye, became the National Deputy President (Female)
