Sirajudeen-Bakinde heads Committee on Work-Study programme

In order to make life easier for the students of the University of Ilorin, the management of the University has constituted a Committee that would see to the introduction, implementation and effectiveness of work-study programme on campus.

The constitution of the Committee is contained in a memo  dated January 18,2024 and signed by the institution’s Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN BULLETIN.

The Committee, which is chaired by Prof. Nasmat T. Sirajudeen-Bakinde, consists of Mr M. J. Akanbi of the Bursary Unit; Dr M. S. Sanusi of the Department of Food Engineering; Dr A..A. Badmus of the Department of Crop Production and Dr Oludolapo Ojediran of the Department of the Performing Arts.

Other members of the Committee are Dr Bilqees A. Abdulmumin of the Department of Finance; Mr K. S. Ajao of the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering; Mr A. A. Abidoye of the Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre while the Secretary of the College of Health Sciences, Mr A. R. Sidique would serve as its Secretary.

Mr Alfanla, who enjoined the Committee to submit its work plan to the Vice Chancellor, said that the Committee is expected to create and develop work-study programme that aligns with the University’s goal and the needs of the students, to collaborate with relevant units on campus to establish work-study job opportunities for students and to facilitate the placement of eligible students in suitable work-study positions considering their academic and career goals.

The Committee is also expected to design the remuneration package for the students, conduct regular evaluation of the work-study programmes and report to the Vice Chancellor on regular basis.
