Owoyele joins eLife Editorial Board

A Professor of Physiology and Dean, Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin, Bamidele Victor Owoyele, has been chosen as one of the 17 distinguished researchers in Africa selected to join the editorial board of eLife.

The appointment, which marked a significant landmark in the career of the renowned academic and administrator, was recently announced on the official website of eLife as sighted by UNILORIN BULLETIN.

As a member of the eLife Editorial Board, Prof. Owoyele will collaborate with senior editors and other newly appointed editors from various African countries, including Cameroon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, and Uganda, towards implementing a new publishing model that would combine the immediacy and openness of preprints with the meticulous scrutiny of rigorous reviews by experts.

Apart from his role as the Dean of the UNILORIN Postgraduate School, Prof. Owoyele is also the President of the Neuroscience Society of Nigeria, which showcases his leadership and influence in the academic community.

Additionally, Prof. Owoyele’s international recognition extends to being a Fellow of the Physiological Society of the United Kingdom. His expertise in Physiology, as a Professor at the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Ilorin also reflects his profound commitment to advancing knowledge in the field.

The renowned academic also holds the Fellowships of the Society for Environmental Biology of Nigeria (NISEB) and the Neuroscience Society of Nigeria (NSN).
