NIMMME honours Odusote, Shuaib-Babata

The Nigeria Institution of Metallurgical, Mining and Materials Engineering (NIMMME) has conferred its prestigious Fellowship on the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Prof. Jamiu Kolawole Odusote;  and a former Head, Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, University of Ilorin, Prof. Lanre Yusuf  Shuaib-Babata.

The two scholars were among a few others conferred with the award at this year’s edition of the membership induction and annual general meeting of the institution, which took place at Power House, Abuja, penultimate Friday (December 1,2023).

Speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the NIMMME, Prof. Aje Tokan, explained that the two senior academics were honoured in recognition of their enormous contributions to the deepening of knowledge pertaining to the field,  progress of the profession in Nigeria and general human development.

He encouraged both Prof. Odusote and Shuaib-Babata to continue to offer their best as teachers and professionals for the nation to take maximum advantage of its abundant mineral and material resources the nation is blessed with.

Reacting to the development, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, congratulated the two academics on the honour conferred on them.

Prof. Egbewole, who spoke through the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, said that the honour was not just for the two scholars but also for the University.

While thanking the NIMMME for finding the two staff of the University worthy of the honour, Prof. Egbewole saluted the resourcefulness and industry of the Dean and the former Head of  Department as he urged them not to relent in pursuing excellence in all ramifications.

He also urged other academic and non-teaching staff of the University to emulate the two gentlemen for the University to remain the nation’s most sought-after citadel of learning.
