Muslim Ladies Circle holds orientation programme for new Students

The Da’wah Officer of the Islamic Education Trust (IET), Minna, Niger State,  Mallam Idris AbdulRahman, has charged Nigerian students, especially those of the University of Ilorin, to always be purposeful, goal-driven and follow it up with actions as directed by Allah and His Prophet (SAW)

Mallam AbdulRahman, who stated this penultimate Tuesday (January 16, 2024) at the two-Day orientation programme organised by the University of Ilorin Muslim Ladies Circle (UMLC), held at the University Auditorium, said that Allah has not created any being  without goals.

Explaining the concepts of laxity and extremism, the renowned Islamic scholar enjoined students to always be mindful of their ways, actions and characters, and make sure it does not go contrary to Islamic injunctions.

He also advised the students to exhibit fascinating morals and values by seeking correct interpretations from authentic religious scholars who are neither threading the path of laxity nor extremism.

Mallam AbdulRahman pointed out that to achieve success, students must have clearly defined goals written down, know the price to achieve the stated goals and be sure to pay the price to achieve the goals. He said that they must also take advantage of five things before the next five comes around. These are life before death, youth before old age, richness before becoming poor, leisure before busy, and health before ill-health.

Earlier in his opening remark, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, encouraged the students to learn by heart the University anthem, remember that it is a tough task getting admission,be responsible as those who are certified to be worthy in character and learning are the ones that would eventually graduate from the University.

While appreciating the organisers of the programme for upholding the mandates of the University, the Vice Chancellor disclosed that all hands are on deck to ensure that students of the University are properly trained irrespective of the religion they practice.

In her address, the Ameerat of UMLC, Dr Azeezat Amoloye, who appreciated the University management and the resource person, said that  the programme was a way of sustaining interactions among the students and the Muslim Ladies Circle as well as the larger University of Ilorin Muslim Community to make sure that students are guided to the right paths.

The Chief imam of the University of Ilorin Muslim Community, Prof. Nasir Abdulssalam, enjoined students and other participants to inculcate the knowledge they acquired in the course of the programme.

The event was attended by Muslim Principal Officers of the University, members of the UNILORIN Muslim Ladies Circle and students.
