2023 Convocation:

Management hails UNILORIN Ceremonials Committee

The management of the University of Ilorin has commended the Chairman and members of the Ceremonials Committee for planning and successfully executing the just concluded 37th and 38th combined Convocation Ceremonies of the University.

In separate memos dated October 30, 2023 and addressed to the Chairman and individual members of the Committee, a copy of which was sighted by UNILORIN BULLETIN last Wednesday (November 1, 2023), the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, acknowledged “the hard work, commitment, creativity and valuable contributions” of all those who were involved in organising the series of activities that marked the epoch-making ceremonies.

            In the memo, which was signed on his behalf by the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council of the University, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, the Vice Chancellor noted that the tireless efforts of the Committee, under the Chairmanship of Prof. Adegboyega Fawole of the College of Health Sciences, “played a vital role in making the ceremonies a huge success”.

Prof. Egbewole thanked all  members of the Committee for demonstrating high sense of responsibility, adding that “Your passion and commitment have left a lasting impression and made the ceremonies memorable”.

The Vice Chancellor specifically commended the Ceremonials Committee Chairman, Prof. Fawole, and Secretary, Mr Kunle Akogun, for their “outstanding efforts” that culminated in the grand success recorded by the convocation ceremonies.

In separate memos sent to the duo on his behalf by the Registrar, Mr Alfanla, the Vice Chancellor said, “You demonstrated remarkable leadership skills throughout the Convocation Ceremonies. Your ability to coordinate the various sub-committees’ activities as well as managing several logistics and technical challenges is highly commendable. Despite your tight schedules and the unforeseen challenges, your meticulous approach ensured that the combined 37th and 38th Convocation Ceremonies went seamlessly”.

He stated further, “In addition, you displayed unwavering dedication and worked tirelessly to ensure that the Ceremonies reflected the values and prestige of our noble institution. We thank you most sincerely for this”.

While thanking the Chairman and members of the Committee for their “efforts in making the events successful and memorable”, Prof. Egbewole expressed the hope that they “would readily accept to serve in similar capacities in future when the need arises”.

The two-week 37th and 38th combined convocation ceremonies at which 25,245 students, who completed various academic programmes in the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions, graduated, was brought to an end penultimate Friday, October 27, 2023 and Sunday, October 29, 2023 with a special Juma’at service and interdenominational Church service, respectively.
