LAUTECH don commends Ph.D. student for research on herbicides

AProfessor of Plant Biology at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Prof. Suleiman Adewuyi Azeez, has commended  Mr Wasiu Olanrewaju Opadokun for the dedication devoted to carrying out his Ph.D. research titled, “Effects of S. Metolachlor and Nicosulfron Herbicides and Residue Accumulation in Soil, Shoot and  Grains of Zea Mays ” submitted to the Department of Plant Biology, University of Ilorin.

Prof Azeez made this remark last Tuesday, (March 5, 2024) while speaking as an External Examiner at the doctoral thesis defence.

In a chat with UNILORIN BULLETIN, Mr Opadokun gave glory to the Almighty God and appreciated his supervisor, family and colleagues for strengthening him with words of encouragement in his trying moments.

He noted that his father was a defacto Research Assistant who was often at the farm with him early in the morning to apply chemicals and observe plants as part of his study.

He also called on the government to support research for national development through grants. saying that most students are helpless

Distinguished scholars at the defence included Prof  P.O. Fatola, Prof Mustapha who is the Head of the Department of Plant Biology; and Prof. Adekola of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, who was the Internal Examiner.
