FET holds COREN-OBE Sensitisation programme

As part of its contributions towards achieving the Vision 1-10-500 of the  University of Ilorin, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology has held a  COREN-OBE (Outcome Based Education) Sensitisation Meeting with all Heads of  Departments, as well as senior academic and technical staff members.

The meeting, which was held penultimate Monday (February 5,2024),was a follow-up to an earlier Workshop held on  September 19, 2023.

 Speaking at the meeting, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Jamiu Odusote, said that the event was to ensure that the University Engineering programmes reflect all the necessary requirements of COREN outcome based education. Preparing Programme Outcomes (POs), Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

He added that the holding of stakeholders meeting was reiterated by the resource persons.

The Dean also explained that meeting the COREN-OBE requirements is also germane to the accreditation of Engineering programmes in Nigeria.

The sensitisation meeting, which was chaired by the Dean, witnessed paper presentations by COREN-trained resource persons.

The meeting, which attracted no fewer than 45 participants, including past Deans of the Faculty such as Prof D. S. Ogunniyi, Prof. J. O. Aweda, Prof. Nazmat Surajudeen-Bakinde and Prof.  J. O. Olorunmaiye.

Also in attendance were Dr M. O. Sunmonu, Dr T. K. Ajiboye and Past Dean, Prof J.O. Olorunmaiye, who is the Chairman of COREN Engineering Accreditation Committee in Nigeria as well as Prof. Temitope E. Odetoye, who is also a member of COREN Engineering Practitioners Examination Committee in Nigeria.
