Engineering Faculty opens Car Service Centre

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has called on staff and students of the University who are motorists to patronise the Faculty of Engineering Car Service Centre.

Prof. Egbewole made this call last Monday (February 12, 2024) while commissioning the Car  Service Centre and the Launching of Waste bin at the Faculty.

The Vice Chancellor commended the Faculty for making its dreams come into reality.

He also urged them to intensify their efforts in order to produce  cars that could be useful for Nigerians , saying that this would make the name of the University go viral.

He explained that the Centre could be made use for the purpose of car service, diagnostics and proper maintenance, noting that it would also promote the image of the institution and also serve as means of generating revenue for the University.

While speaking on the Waste bin produced by the Faculty, Prof. Egbewole advised the management of the Faculty to increase the production of the item in order to get them placed in some strategic places within the University campus for effective use.

He also urged the Faculty to lay emphasis on the labelling of the products for ease of identification.

In his remarks, the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Jamiu Odusote, expressed his happiness as he said that both the Car Service Centre and the Waste bin would promote the image of the University.

The Dean noted that the Car Service Centre is not only established for the promotion of the University alone but also to serve as a training centre for students of the Faculty.

The don also pointed out that  students of the Faculty  are being trained to be seif reliant for them not to look for white collar job after graduation.

Joining the Vice Chancellor at the event were the Deputy Vice Chancellor ( Management Services) ,Prof. Suleiman Folorunsho Ambali; the Registrar of the University, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfalfa; the Director of COMSIT, who is also the Vice Chancellor of Muhammad Kamal-deen University, Iloriin, Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh;  the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, Prof. Abdullahi Baba Alafara; the Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences (CIS),Prof. Lukman Adesina Azeez; among others.
