Encomiums, as TEC honours Adeoye

It was an evening of encomiums and honours last Wednesday (January 3, 2024) as the Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre (TEC) of the University of Ilorin hosted a special send-forth programme in honour of  the immediate past Director of the Centre, Prof Dapo Adeoye, who recently completed  his tenure.

The occasion, which was held at the Centre’s Conference Room, was an opportunity for a reunion of the immediate past director, his families, friends, and loved ones from within the University, and other members of  staff of the Centre.

In his welcome address, the new Director, Prof. Usman Adebimpe Raheem  while making a remark on the tenure of  his   predecessor, said that “he did very well”.

The Director commended Prof. Adeoye for labouring tirelessly for the Centre, which he recalled was very challenging, describing Prof. Adeoye as an “ideal man in an ideal environment whose humility  cannot be compared”.

The former Deputy Director of the Centre, Dr Halimat Adegoke, described Prof. Adeoye as a mentor and father who directs with humility and also follows up.

She appreciated him for his support and prayed that God would rewards him abundantly.

In her comment, Dr Sola Ojo described Prof. Adeoye as a man of standard and virtue who nurtured the idea of “ASBV” to a full blown stage that has been recognised by the University.

Mr Taofeeq Salaudeen, a Senior Engineer at the Centre, described Prof. Adeoye as “a rare breed who worked as if his life depended on it”.

He prayed that God should put him in a higher position where he can influence more things positively.

Responding, the honouree, Prof Adeoye, thanked everyone and appreciated them for the support given during his tenure at the Centre.

He also apologised to those he may have offended in one way or the other, saying that whatever happened was in good faith.

Prof. Adeoye, who was with his wife, Dr Kemi Adeoye and daughter,  reminded staff members of the Centre that they are custodians and will only be there for some time and should always endeavour to do their best.

The highlights of the event  witnessed by staff of the Centre and friends of the honouree,  Prof. Adeoye, was the presentation of gifts .
