Emir of Ilorin assures Akanbi of prayers

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahiim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has assured a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management at the University of Ilorin, Dr Usman Oladipo Akanbi, of the prayers and support of the people of Ilorin Emirate.

The Emir gave this assurance last Tuesday (January 16,2023) while receiving Dr Akanbi, who was at the ancient palace to formally intimate the royal father of his recent election as the new National President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari said that he was delighted that one of his subjects was found worthy of leading an Association peopled by distinguished academics and men of letters from allover Nigeria.

The Emir commended the intellectual resourcefulness and resilience of Dr Akanbi as he praised his dedication to literature.

The royal father also saluted the memory of the father of the ANA’s National President,late Justice Mustapha Akanbi, who he described as his boss and elder brother as he also underscored the deep connection between the royal family and that of the late Justice Akanbi.

The Emir also paid glowing tributes to the memory of Dr Akanbi’s younger brother, Prof. Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi, SAN, who was the late Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Malete, for his unforgettable contributions to the development of the Ilorin Emirate and the nation at large.

Speaking earlier, Dr Akanbi said that he was at the palace to formally inform the Emir of his emergence as the National President of the Association of Nigerian Authors.

He added that he was also at the palace to seek the counsel, prayers and support of the Emir, which he said are needed to enable him to succeed in the task of leading ANA. Dr Akanbi was accompanied on the visit by members of the Kwara State chapter of  the Association.
