Egbewole urges asset declaration compliance

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has reiterated the importance of transparency and accountability among public officers.

Prof. Egbewole made this call during an enlightenment session held penultimate Thursday (April 4, 2024), at the University Auditorium. The session brought together UNILORIN staff and representatives from the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to discuss the proper completion of asset declaration forms. 

The Vice Chancellor, who is also the Chairman of KU8, also urged every member of staff of the University to declare their assets and complete the Assets Declaration Form for Public Officers, in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution.

Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olubunmi Omotesho, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of the exercise, saying that the management arranged the enlightenment session to raise awareness among the University staff about the proper completion of the Asset Declaration Form.

A Deputy Chief Superintendent of the Kwara State CCB, Mr. Asaniyan Justus Babajide, who addressed the staff members of the University, emphasised the significance of accurate and timely declaration of assets owned by public officers.

 He submitted that the programme would guide staff of the University towards ensuring full compliance with constitutional obligations of the asset declaration.

 Mr Babajide also underscored the CCB’s role as an anti-corruption agency responsible for maintaining checks and balances on public officials.
