Egbewole tasks ANA President on efficient leadership

…….as Akogun brands him University’s worthy ambassador

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole,  SAN,  has advised the newly elected National President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA),  Dr Shehu Usman Oladipo Akanbi , to be a team player by harmonising the different shades of opinion in the Association in order to lift the body to higher  heights.

Prof Egbewole gave this advice last  Monday, (December 4, 2023) while receiving the President of the elite group of creative writers in Nigeria who paid him a courtesy call in his office.

The Vice Chancellor expressed his delight on the favourable outcome of the election and applauded the Kwara ANA contingent, saying, “I congratulate you and your team for this feat of winning the election. I know what you are made of and I’m sure you will do us proud in your new assignment. The challenge of leadership in this part of the world is the inability to manage divergent opinions. You must be a team player.”

Prof. Egbewole went further to assure the Association of the University’s backing and pledged that “UNILORIN will continue to support you and ANA, I’m happy you are already mentoring some of our students. This is the way to go.

Dr Akanbi in his appreciation, noted that like a quote in the University of Ilorin anthem,  the Vice Chancellor insisted that he must never turn back in his candidacy, saying that that spirit propelled him to victory.

While appreciating the Directorate of Corporate Affairs in the second leg of the UNILORIN tour, Dr Akanbi noted that the voice of the University echoes around the world through the impactful presence of the Directorate on ground and online. He revealed that he received congratulatory messages from across the world on account of the Unit’s unbeatable reach.

In his reaction, the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin,  Mr Kunle Akogun, disclosed that the Vice Chancellor embodies and personifies the University of Ilorin and no one speaks the mind and mood of the institution clearer than the Vice Chancellor who broke the news and spread the joy of the University with a message to him.

He, therefore, pledged further support to ANA as he described Dr Akanbi as a national figure who is a worthy ambassador of the University and, therefore, qualifies for unfettered coverage by the media organ of the University.
