Egbewole hails IEDPU’s support for CILS

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has described the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), the umbrella sociocultural organisation of the people of Ilorin Emirate, as a veritable partner in the task of uplifting the University.

Prof. Egbewole stated this in a letter dated Monday, March 11, 2024, which was signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council of the University, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla and addressed to the National President of the IEDPU, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik.

In the letter, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN BULLETIN, the Vice Chancellor specifically appreciated the Union for responding to the call for support earlier made to it by the management of the institution’s Centre for Ilorin Studies (CILS), saying that IEDPU’s release of the sum of  N300,000 to the Centre for the execution of a project is well appreciated.

He noted that the financial support would go a long way in assisting the Centre to accomplish a project it has embarked on.

Prof. Egbewole, who is also the Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU), noted, “There is no denial in the fact that the donation would go a long way in augmenting the expenses on the on-going project embarked upon by the Centre”.

The Vice Chancellor, who expressed the joy of the management, Senate, staff and students of the University on what he called “this invaluable gesture”, expressed the conviction of the nation’s most sought-after University that the Union would continue to support the institution to ensure its growth and development.

Recall that UNILORIN BULLETIN had on Monday, February 19, 2024 reported the advocacy visit of the CILS management led by its Director, Prof. Issa Olarongbe Sanusi, to the National President and members of the National Executive Council of the IEDPU a few days earlier.
