Egbewole graces Darul Uloom 60th anniversary

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, was among dignitaries from all walks of life who attended the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Darul Uloom Arabic School, Isale-Koto, Ilorin.

            The event, which also attracted a former Vice Chancellor of the University, who is  currently the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is’haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON, took place at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

The ceremony also witnessed the conferment of merit awards on some distinguished products of the institution including a former Dean, Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin, Prof. Badmas Olanrewaju Yusuf; a former Dean, Faculty of Arts,  Prof. Shehu Ahmad Abdussalaam and two former  Heads of the Department of Arabic, University of Ilorin, Prof. Isa Alabi Abubakar and Prof. AbdulGaniy Abimbola Abdussalam.

The school, which was established in 1963 by the League of Imam and Islamic Scholars of Ilorin with the support of the penultimate Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Sulu Gambari, CFR, has produced hundreds of distinguished alumni many of whom later attended or worked at the University of Ilorin.

Among the distinguished UNILORITES who trained at the school were  a former Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof. Abdulmumini  Adebayo Oba;  an Associate Professor at the Department of Arabic, Dr Usman Muhammad Gbodofu; a lecturer at the Faculty of Law,  Dr Ridwan Olagunju.

Others include Dr AbdulHameed Badmas Yusuf, who teaches at the Department of Religions as well as a retired Deputy Registrar, Mr Sayoouti, among several others.
