Egbewole extols IMRAT at book presentation

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), has praised the institution’s Institute of Medical Research and Training (IMRAT) for its achievements and crucial role in promoting public health.

The Vice Chancellor said this penultimate Friday (February 9, 2024) at a book presentation titled “Community Child Health” at the University’s Main Auditorium.

Prof. Egbewole highlighted the significance of IMRAT’s curriculum in offering a holistic understanding of societal dynamics and stressed  the importance of community engagement through interactive initiatives.

He emphasised the pivotal role of medical training in societal well-being and commended the Institute for its commitment to training both medical and non-medical professionals in matters concerning public health.

Prof. Egbewole specifically appreciated the Director of IMRAT, Prof. Earnest Kolade, for his relentless dedication and tireless efforts towards advancing the Institute.

He encouraged IMRAT to expand its reach in a way that would  foster international partnerships as he also urged it to collaborate closely with other sister academic units in order to enhance the Institute’s impact.

In his welcome address, the Director of IMRAT, Prof. Kolade, envisioned a bright future for the Institute, describing it as a nascent entity poised to grow into a prominent player that would elevate the University’s profile on a global scale.

He outlined IMRAT’s objectives as breaking new ground in contemporary biomedical research, contributing to global dialogues on health determinants, researching solutions for prevalent health conditions, and advancing knowledge in the field

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali (SAN),who was represented by the Head of the Department of Islamic Law, University of Ilorin, Dr Azeezat Amoloye-Adebayo, stressed the critical importance of understanding the demographic compositions of Nigeria.

 The renowned legal luminary underscored the significance of addressing community child health as a fundamental aspect of ensuring a healthier future for the nation.

The book reviewer, the Director of the School of Preliminary Studies, University of Ilorin, Prof. Sunday Adediji Aderibigbe highlighted the book’s comprehensive approach to addressing the health and well-being of children within the community.
