Egbewole applauds  Super Eagles’ AFCON final qualification

Last Wednesday (February 7, 2024), the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, took a break from his tight schedule to join the Principal Officers, management staff, and students of the institution to watch the thrilling semi-final match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the institution’s Student Union Building.

 The match was a nail-biting encounter that ended in a goalless first-half draw with both teams scoring penalties during the second half.

 The game proceeded to goalless extra time, and Nigeria eventually emerged victorious in the penalty shootout where it defeated South Africa by a score of 4-2.

Reacting to the outcome of the match, the Vice Chancellor congratulated the Super Eagles on their hard-fought victory.

He commended the team’s resilience and determination, which showed in their exceptional performance throughout the match.

 Prof. Egbewole encouraged the students of the University to ensure that they maintain balance between academic pursuits and extracurricular activities, including sports.

He encouraged students to engage in sports and other recreational activities, saying that those extracurricular activities contribute to holistic development and overall well-being of participants.

 He assured that the University would continue to nurture well-grounded individuals who would excel not only academically but also in various aspects of life.
