Egbewole advocates support for indigent students

As Mojirola Educational Foundation awarded  scholarship to 20 students of institutions of higher learning from across the country, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole,SAN, has appealed to wealthy individuals in the country, to always assist the less privileged.

 The Vice Chancellor, who was represented on the occasion by the Dean, Student Affairs, University of Ilorin, Prof. Musa ToyinYakubu, said this during the official presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries of 2022  scholarship scheme  held at the University of Ilorin..

He said he was happy that eleven out of the twenty lucky winners of the scholarship awards are students of the University of Ilorin

.Prof. Egbewole described the Chief Executive Officer of Mojirola Educational Foundation, Engr Joseph Duntoye, as a blessing to humanity and someone who is worthy of emulation .

He stressed further that  in this present economic situation in the country we need more people like the donor to assist our youths especially in the area of education, which, he said,  is the best legacy that can be bequeathed to children and youths

 The philanthropist project that commenced  last year was established to cater for students who hailed from Oro town, Igbominaland and kwara State at large.

The award is usually given to indigent students who are either on First Class or Second Class Upper Division in their various courses of study.

  In her remarks, the Project Coordinator, who is also a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin, Dr Ruth Abiola Adimula, said that in 2021 fifteen  students of various  tertiary institutions  benefited from the scheme as each of them went home with N200,000:00.

She explained that  this year each of the twenty beneficiaries was given N150,000:00 only.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Jamiu Adeniyi Ridwan, a  500 Level student of the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, expressed his gratitude to the donor for institutionalising the scholarship scheme.
