Be familiar with the conditions of service, Adewoyin tasks UNILORIN staff

A Principal Assistant Registrar at the University of Ilorin, Mr. Kabir Aderemi Adewoyin, has enjoined members of staff of the nation’s most sought-after University to familiarise themselves with the conditions of service of the institution for them not to run foul of the rules of the University.

Mr. Adewoyin stated this  penultimate Wednesday (January 17, 2024) while featuring on a special edition of Table Talk, a current affairs programme of UNILORIN 89.3FM. The programme was anchored by the duo of Mr Temitope Olawuyi and Mr Soliu Yinka Magaji-Nda.

The renowned University administrator explained that the conditions of service is a set of agreement between the authorities of the University and its staff members, which must be strictly adhered to for peace and harmony to prevail.

Mr Adewoyin, who is the Head of the Junior Staff Section at the Human Resources Unit of the University, said that the conditions of service is the way the employer wants the employees to do their duties in order to achieve an organisation’s corporate objectives.

He added that in drawing the conditions of service, workers are also involved as he said that all the labour unions operating at the University took part in the review of the code.

Mr Adewoyin pointed out that it is the responsibility of the employees to be punctual at work, saying that every worker must be on his or her duty post between 8.00am and 4.00pm every working day except with the permission of his or her supervisor.

He added that it is offensive to neglect official duties within the period, saying that every worker must perform his duties as expected and as specified by the University management in the conditions of service.

Mr Adewoyin also stressed that the conditions of service contains various forms of disciplinary measures that can be taken against violators of the provisions of the code.

The Principal Assistant Registrar explained that any staff that is facing a case in any court of law against the University will be put on interdiction by the University authorities pending the conclusion of the matter.

He added that any staff that is facing the disciplinary committee will also be put on suspension from duties in order to ensure fair hearing.

Mr Adewoyin urged staff members to work diligently and with integrity in order to justify the payment of their emoluments and for divine blessings. He added that such also needed to be done for such workers to deserve career progression and avoid any form of challenges.
