Be Exemplary, UMLC charges El-Imam

The Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, has been advised to remain a good ambassador of the University of Ilorin as she pilots the affairs of the Ministry and as a member of the Kwara State Executive Council.

This advice was given by the Coordinator of University of Ilorin Muslim Ladies Circle (UMLC), Dr Azizat Omotoyosi Amoloye-Adebayo, when she led a delegation of the leadership of the group  on a congratulatory visit to Dr El-Imam in her office recently.

Dr Amoloye-Adebayo, who is also the Head, Department of Islamic Law, University of Ilorin, explained that it is important for the Commissioner to discharge her responsibilities to the people and government of Kwara State without fair or favour.

The Coordinator, who congratulated the Commissioner on her appointment, said that the society expected her to be exemplary, being an academic and a frontline member of the Circle.

She also charged Dr El-Imam to jealously guard her personal integrity and that of the Association as well as the University of Ilorin as she discharged her responsibilities with intellect and probity.

Dr Amoloye-Adebayo, who appreciated the enormity of the tasks before the Commissioner, particularly at this point in time, prayed to Allah to continue to grant her sound health and wisdom for her to have a very peaceful, productive and rewarding tenure of office.

Responding, Dr El-Imam thanked the UMCL for the visit as she explained that she had been looking forward to it since her assumption of office.

The Commissioner, who said that such congratulatory visits ended two months ago, however, pointed out that it was better late than never.

Dr El-Imam described the UMCL as an assemblage of some of the most respected and accomplished Muslim women anyone could find across Kwara State.

The Commissioner, who was, prior to her appointment as a member of the Kwara State Executive Council, a lecturer at the Department of Microbiology, University of Ilorin, assured the UMLC that she would not do anything that would tarnish the image and reputation of the Association, of which she said she was always proud to be a member.

She, therefore, enjoined the leadership and members of the UMLC and the entire University community to always remember her in prayers and also support her with timely and quality suggestions on how best she could discharge her responsibilities to the fullest.

Dr El-Imam, who promised to remain a good ambassador of the University and a committed member of the UMLC, assured that she was looking forward to resuming her duties at the University after the successful completion of her tenure.

Dr Amoloye-Adebayo was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Coordinator of the UMLC, Prof. Nafisat Adedokun-Shittu; the Secretary, Dr Fatima Balogun; Dr Hassanat Abubakar of the Department of Arabic; Dr Oyekunle of the Faculty of Commmunication and Information Sciences and Nurse Fatimah Ahmed of the College of Health Sciences.
