Be exemplary, Ambali charges UNILORIN staff

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), University of Ilorin, Prof. Suleiman Funsho Ambali, has charged staff members of the University, particularly those from Ilorin Emirate, to always put up exemplary dispositions in the discharge of their duties and general attitudes within and outside the University..

Prof. Ambali, who is also the Chairman of Ilorin Emirate Staff Association (IESA), University of Ilorin, gave this advice last Monday (February 26, 2024) while inaugurating the 2024 Ramadan Committee of the Association at the University Central Mosque.

Represented by the Secretary-General of the Association, Mr Abubakar Imam, Prof. Ambali explained that it is very important for members of the Association to always conduct themselves properly and in a way that they would be emulated by their colleagues, students and members of the public.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor insisted that the consistent display of positive attitudes should not be restricted to the University campus but must also be consistently demonstrated beyond the shores of the institution.

Prof. Ambali specifically pointed out that the essence of the Association and similar ones is not targeted at polarising the University community along ethnic or religious divides but for them to serve as veritable platforms for the encouragement of good virtues and also to promote healthy rivalry among their members, which would have positive impacts on the University.

Speaking on the Committee, Prof. Ambali charged its members to take the assignment with seriousness, saying that the series of programmes to be proposed and organised by them should be channeled towards encouraging good virtues and boosting the alluring image of the University.

The renowned Professor of Environmental Toxicology reminded members of the Committee that the anticipated programmes were not for members of the Association alone but for the entire society to benefit from.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor directed the Committee to ensure the patronage of the University’s official radio station, the UNILORIN 89.3 FM, for the airing and advertising of the  Association’s programmes.

He also stressed the need to ensure that only qualified staff members of the University and most especially IESA members should be chosen as resource persons for all the radio programmes and as officiating personalities for the annual public event.

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr Muhammad-Kamaldeen Tamim, thanked Prof. Ambali and  other members of the Executive Committee of the Association for choosing him and his colleagues for the assignment.

Dr Tamim, who is an Associate Professor at the Department of Islamic Law, University of Ilorin, assured the Chairman that the Committee, which consists of 17 members drawn from various units of the University, would carry out its responsibilities diligently.

He added that everything that would be done by the Committee would not only be of pride to the University of Ilorin and the Ilorin Emirate community but would also promote the image of the two entities as it would also encourage probity and learning, which the University is established to advance.
