The consistent and effective deployment of relevant strategic communication tools in the public image management of the University of Ilorin by the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, has earned him a nomination for the prestigious award of the “National Spokesperson of the Year”.

The award, which is organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in partnership with the Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), the publishers of PRNigeria and Spokespersons’ Digest, is reserved for outstanding public relations professionals in Nigeria.

Mr Akogun is among the 62 finalists  shortlisted from 224 entries for 21 award categories.

In a letter addressed to the communication guru dated Monday, March 11, 2024, which was signed by the Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Awards, Mr Segun Mcmedal, the organisers of the event said that the award ceremony would hold on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The Chairman, who congratulated Mr Akogun for being shortlisted for the prestigious awards, said that the award is the highest honour reserved for the celebration of “outstanding spokespersons in corporate communications, public affairs, politics, media, advocacy and other domains in Nigeria who have demonstrated outstanding eloquence, integrity and effectiveness in the discharge of their communication roles”.

Mr Mcmedal explained that Mr Akogun becomes a potential winner of the award following the national recognition attracted by his consistent qualitative campaign objectives, clarity of strategy, storytelling and framing, engagement with the audience as well as the impact and effectiveness of the strategies deployed in giving the nation’s most sought-after University consistent favourable image.
