Use your residential quarters properly, Baba charges UNILORIN staff

The Estate Officer, University of Ilorin, Mr Bolakale Sahid Baba, has urged staff members of the University who are occupying official quarters to ensure proper use of the facilities.

Mr Baba, who is also a Deputy Director at the Works Department of the University, gave this advice last Monday (April 8, 2024) while speaking with UNILORIN BULLETIN in his office.

The  Estate Officer said that the occupants of the facilities should see it as a privilege, which must be used properly for their own benefit and in the interest of future occupants.

Mr Baba, who is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, said that the allottees should consider their accommodation as a privilege in view of the several advantages they derive in living on campus.

He pointed out that he was always disturbed seeing staff residences being overgrown with weeds and untidy, saying that such practice is not good enough as it may encourage the breeding of dangerous reptiles.

He also urged the occupants of the houses to cultivate the habit of ensuring the swift repair of minor faults in their residences while major ones should be promptly reported for immediate attention of the University.

Mr Baba similarly appealed to students living on campus to conduct themselves in accordance with the rules and regulations governing their hostels.

He assured staff and students that  management would continue to ensure that essential services such as water and public power supply are provided for those  residents at the Main Campus and the GRA Quarters to ensure that they live quality lives.

While urging interested staff members who are yet to be allocated quarters on campus to be patient, he assured them that their applications will be favourably treated as soon as there are vacancies.
