UNILORIN GLOCALISE initiative organises capacity building workshop for teachers

A University of Ilorin-based education initiative,  GLOCALISE,  will on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024, organise the first Gown, Town and Crown (GTC) Education Workshop for primary and secondary school teachers in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The workshop, which is being organised in partnership with  the United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organisation,(UNESCO), is the brainchild of the Convener of UNILORIN GLOCALISE Initiative, Prof. Nafisat Afolake Adedokun-Shittu of the Department of Educational Technology, Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin.

A statement issued by Prof. Adedokun-Shittu explained that the  programme provides “a platform for stakeholders to collaborate to explore local context to teach global content, then create glocal content and resources for novel and outcome-based learner-centered teaching strategy.”

It added that GLOCALISE Igbomina is the Pilot Phase of the project, and it will be flagged off by the Olupo of Ajase Ipo, Oba Ismail Bolaji Atoloye,  on  April 24, 2024, at Ajase Ipo Comprehensive High School,  at 10:00 am.

“In the Pilot Phase I of the project, 100 selected teachers from 25 schools in Igbomina land are  to attend a one-day capacity building workshop,” the statement added, pointing out that “subsequently, the Pilot phases  II, III, IV, and V of GLOCALISE Igbomina  will hold at Share, Oke Ode, Oke Onigbin, and Omu Aran, later this year”.
