Imam appreciates staff’s support for Egbewole

A Deputy Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin Muslim community, Prof. Yahya Oyewole Imam, has expressed his profound gratitude to the University community, particularly members of the  Muslim community, for the magnitude and quality of support they have been extending to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN.

Prof Imam, who teaches in the  Department of Religions, stated this during the special Tafsir and Iftar hosted by the Vice Chancellor   during the recently concluded Ramadan fast.

The cleric-don also appreciated Prof. Egbewole for hosting the Principal Officers, Deans and the leadership of the Muslim Community to Iftar as he noted that dining with others and honouring invitations to such a gathering is one of the virtues encouraged by Prophet Muhammad.

Prof. Imam said that clerics as spiritual leaders must always tell the political leaders nothing but the truth at all times, saying that the clerics are ordained and expected to pass the genuine feelings and concerns of the ordinary people to those who are either elected or appointed to lead them.

The cleric-don, who also admonished Muslim politicians to be good ambassadors of their faith, insisted that they must imbibe and reflect  the character of Islam in their politics.
