The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has reaffirmed the commitment of the University to strengthen its working relationship with the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).

Prof. Egbewole expressed this resolveĀ  last Monday (June 22, 2026) in his office when officials of NIPOST paid him a courtesy visit.

The Vice Chancellor, who acknowledged the role of NIPOST in providing essential postal and logistics services, urged the organisation to submit a detailed proposal outlining areas of possible collaboration, the benefits to the University, and the associated cost implications. He noted that such a proposal would enable the University to properly evaluate and implement feasible initiatives.

He explained that the University had made significant progress in the digitalisation of its transcript processing system, allowing graduates to request and transmit transcripts electronically within a short period.

He, however, noted that hard-copy transcripts were still processed where required by receiving institutions, stressing the need for continued awareness of available postal services.

In his remarks, the Head of the Kwara State Office of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Mr Kayode Sunday, appealed to theĀ  management of the University to fulfil its earlier commitment to upgrade the NIPOST Office located on its campus, describing the proposed facelift as a strategic investment that would enhance service delivery and strengthen the operations of NIPOST within the University community.

Mr Sunday explained that the visit was also aimed at deepening the long-standing relationship between NIPOST and the University as well as creating greater awareness of the diverse services of the agency, including courier operations, document and parcel delivery, e-commerce support, warehousing, and nationwide distribution. He noted that NIPOST remains one of the most accessible government agencies in the country, with a vast network that positions it to effectively support institutions and businesses across Nigeria.

The NIPOST topshot commended the University management for its support and positive dispositions towards the agency over the years, recalling previous discussions on improving the operational environment of the campus post office.

He expressed optimism that the intervention of the University would not only improve the physical outlook of the facility but it would also boost its capacity to provide efficient, modern, and customer-focused postal and logistics services to staff, students, and other members of the University community.

Also speaking, the Head of Operations, NIPOST, Kwara Area Office, Mr Adebayo Jimoh, highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration in enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency. He noted that NIPOST possesses the capacity, experience, and nationwide infrastructure required to support universities in the seamless movement of academic and administrative documents, stressing that stronger partnerships with tertiary institutions would contribute significantly to improved service accessibility for staff and students alike.

Mr Jimoh also assured the management of the University of the commitment of NIPOST to professionalism, reliability, and timely delivery of services. He expressed optimism that the engagement would open new avenues for cooperation, foster mutual growth, and strengthen the longstanding relationship between the University and the postal agency, while creating additional value for the institution’s academic community.
