Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu became the Visitor of the University of Ilorin on May 29, 2023 following his swearing in as the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He had previously served as two-term Governor of Lagos State (1999 – 2007) and Senator, representing Lagos West in 1993.
President Tinubu attended Richard Daley College, Chicago, Illinois, where he earned himself a place in the honours list of the College. He subsequently proceeded to the Chicago State University, Illinois, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting and Management).
Upon graduation with honours and several awards, he cut his professional teeth at the American-based Arthur Anderson, Deloitte and Haskins and Sells (now called Deloitte Haskins and Touche) and GTE Service Corporation – the largest Communication and Utility Company in the United States of America.
At Deloitte Haskins, the young Tinubu broadened his experience by participating in the auditing and management consultancy services of General Motors, First National Bank of Chicago, Procter and Gamble, International Harvester, GEC and some other Fortune 500 firms.
Armed with international experience in Financial Management, Tinubu, on his return to Nigeria in 1983, joined Mobil Producing Nigeria as a Senior Auditor and rose through the ranks before retiring as the company’s Treasurer in 1991.
He thereafter went into politics where he has a very rewarding career that culminated in his election as President in 2023.

The Emir of Katsina and Chairman, Katsina State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) AbdulMumini Kabir Usman, CFR, was appointed the Chancellor of the University of Ilorin in May 2015.
Alhaji Usman, who is the 50th Emir of Katsina, was previously the Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
The First Class royal father, who was born in 1951, is the fifth Chancellor of the University of Ilorin since its inception about 50 years ago. His four predecessors were: the Emir of Bedde, HRH Umar Sulaiman (1978 – 1981); the Aku Uka of Wukari, HRH K.S.A. Masalbi II (1981 – 2000); the Amanyanabo of Nembe, Justice Ambrose Allagoa (2000 – 2006); and the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, HRH Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi I (2006 – 2015).

Surv. Abiodun Jacob Aluko, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the University of Ilorin, hails from Ikere in Ekiti State. He was inaugurated along with other Council Members on July 1, 2024 at the National Universities Commission (NUC) headquarters, Abuja.
A Licensed Surveyor, Mapping and Environmental Consultant and Geographic Information System (GIS) expert, Surv. Aluko attended the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, where he studied Applied Geophysics. He graduated from the institution in flying colours in 1976.
After his national youth service in 1977, Surv. Aluko joined the Civil Service of Old Ondo State. He was later trained as a professional Surveyor at the famous Federal School of Surveying, Oyo, where he left a yet to be broken record as he passed all the qualifying examinations at one sitting ahead of all his colleagues and seniors in 1983.
The new Pro-Chancellor rose to the position of Head of the Department of Surveying in the Ondo State Housing Corporation in 1985 before voluntarily quitting the public service.
He, thereafter, went into private professional practice and also into corporate administration by joining the Ondo State Council of Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (OSCCCIMA) in 1986 where he served in various capacities as Director General/Council Secretary, Vice President, and ultimately the pioneer President of Ekiti State Chambers of Commerce in 1996.
Apart from being a member of many Land Management and Infrastructural Resources Development Organisations, Surv. Aluko is also a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administrators of Nigeria as well as the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership, Commonwealth of Kentucky, USA.
Surv. Aluko subsequently joined politics and he was elected the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State in 2003. As Deputy Governor, Surv. Aluko performed excellently well, which assisted the administration to lay the foundation of the physical development of Ekiti State on which subsequent administrations have been building.
After leaving office as Deputy Governor, he had served in other capacities, including being a member of Governing Councils of three different federal universities: Bayero University, Kano; Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State; and University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Surv. Aluko is a recipient of many honorary chieftaincy titles and awards including the Olu-Omo of Ikere Kingdom, Ekiti State; the Baba-Ijo of St John’s Anglican Church, Ikere-Ekiti; Awards of Excellence by the Ekiti and Ondo States Chapters of Obafemi Awolowo University Alumni Association; the Annunciation School Old Boys Association; the Rotary Club, Akure; the Ekiti State National Students Union; the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors; Patron, All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Ekiti State; Life Fellow of the Ondo State, Ekiti State and National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture ( NACCIMA) of Nigeria.

Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN- 11th Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin
Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, is the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, a position he has held since October 2022. Born in Osun State, Professor Egbewole began his academic journey at Ife Anglican Grammar School and Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife. He earned his LLB and LLM degrees from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985.
In 1995, he founded his law firm, Wahab Egbewole & Co., and has since made significant contributions to Nigerian jurisprudence, especially in Constitutional Law, Law and Social Change, and Election Petitions. His legal acumen earned him the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2018.
Professor Egbewole joined the University of Ilorin in 1997, where he quickly rose through the ranks, serving in various leadership roles including Acting Dean of Law and Director of the General Studies Division. He was appointed a Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law in 2012.
He is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK). A prolific researcher, Professor Egbewole has published extensively and secured various grants for his work.
Beyond academia, he is committed to community development, having served in several leadership roles within his community. Professor Egbewole is married to Hajia Muibat Egbewole, and they are blessed with children.

Surv. Abiodun Jacob Aluko hails from Ikere, Ekiti State.
He is a Licensed Surveyor, Mapping and Environmental Consultant and Geographic Information System (GIS) Expert; Land Resources Management, Housing and Urban Development Consultant; an Engineering Geologist, Geophysical Exploration and Infrastructural Development Consultant.
Young Abiodun had exhibited high traits of brilliance even before he started school. In all the institutions he attended he always took the lead. At Annunciation (Sec) School, Ikere Ekiti, he was nicknamed Professor.

At the national level, Surv. Aluko was the Chairman of Mobilisation and Evaluation Sub-Committee of the National Cocoa Development Committee; Member, National and Chairman South-West Cotton Development Committee and Member, National Rice Development Committee.

Alhaja Abosede Juwon Olayiwola is an indegene of Lagos State.
She holds a Masters Degree in Community Development from Bayero University, Kano, and M.Sc. in Peace, Conflict and Strategic Studies from Nile University, Abuja.
She is currently a Deputy Director in the Department of Educational Planning, Research and Development, Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.
Alhaja Olayiwola’s brilliant and remarkable contributions earned her the prestigious Presidential Distinguished Public Service Career Award in 2023.

Elder Ayobami Oladele Afolabi was born in Ode-Omu, Osun State in 1948. He is an entrepreneur and politician who has acquired tremendous experience from both the public and private sectors over the years.
He served as an Executive Assistant on Media Strategy to a former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Lamidi Adesina, from 199 to 2003.
Elder Afolabi, who is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), obtained a Diploma in Marketing in 1976. He also received another Diploma in Management Studies in 1976. He capped his academic qualifications with a Master of Communication Arts from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1989.

Pharmacist Rachel Tinuke Alabi, an alumna of the University of Ilorin, is a distinguished Pharmacist and multicultural personality who has no fewer than 22 years of highly valued experience in public service.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health. She is currently an Assistant Director, Pharmaceutical Services at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, Nassarawa State.

Hon. Akeem Idowu Babatunde hails from Oyo State.
He is a graduate of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. He earned his Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy from the institution in 2015 and 2019, respectively.
Hon. Babatunde is currently a Senior Executive Officer (Account), Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State.

Prof. Usman Adebimpe Raheem (PhD, Ibadan) (Nigeria) is a Professor of Medical Geography and Disaster Risk Analysis and teaches Human Geography at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, where he has put in more than 25 years of teaching and research. His research interests cover the broad area of Human Geography with emphasis on Urban health, climate change and Disaster Risk Analysis.
He has participated in several national and international conferences and training workshops.
He is a member of the International Society for Urban Health, USA, International Society for Ecological Economics (ISEE), International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW) and Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG). He has published widely in reputable local and international journals.

Prof. Muftau Adeniyi Ijaiya is a member of the University of Ilorin Governing Council representing the Congregation.
He graduated from Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin where he earned NCE in Geography and Economics. He later proceeded to Bayero University, Kano where he earned B. Sc. Economics and M. Sc. Banking and Finance respectively. He bagged his Ph. D. Accounting and Finance at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
He joined the services of the University of Ilorin, in 2001 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the rank to the position of a Professor of Finance in 2017.
Prof. Ijaiya meritoriously served as former Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences; former Deputy Director, Unilorin Consultancy Services Unit; former Acting Head, Department of Accounting and Finance; former Acting Head, Department of Finance; former Chairman, Unilorin Petrol Station Management Board; former Coordinator, Faculty Professional Programmes, and Director, Bizface Unilorin Synergy Limited, Unilorin Business Outfit.
He is a Fellow of Nigerian Society for Financial Research (FNSFR); Member, Capital Market Academics of Nigeria (CMA); Member, Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA); Member, Board of Trustee, Accounting and Finance, University of Ilorin Alumni November 2003 Set; and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Government Secondary School Agbaja Old Students’ Association..
He is a resource person to JAMB, JUPEB, CBN Collaborative Postgraduate Programme, Member and Chairman on NUC accreditation Programmes. At international level, he served as a Consultant to United Nations Development Project (UNDP).

Prof Bello,Raji Abdulgafar was born some six decades ago in Oyan, Odo-Otin local government area of Osun state, Nigeria.
He started his Primary education at Nawair-udeen primary school, Oyan in 1966 and proceeded to Government secondary School Omu Aran for his secondary education between 1977 and 1982. He attended Kwara State College of Technology for his Higher School Certificate (HSC) between 1982 and 1984 and later proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for his first degree, 1986, Second degree 1991 and bagged his Ph.D. degree in 2005 with bias in Health Economics.
He joined the services of University of Ilorin, Nigeria in 1996 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the rank to full Professor of Economics in 2014. He has published widely in his area of specialization in reputable journals both locally, nationally and internationally and had contributed chapters to different text books.
Prof Bello had participated in different researches at different levels and has been a consultant and resource person to several organizations including; FMoH, UNFPA, AERC etc. In his academic career, he has supervised large number of undergraduate projects, Master degree Dissertation and Ph.D. theses successfully, among which two are Professors.
He has served as an external examiner on Ph.D. degree in several universities in Nigeria, Associate Professorial and Professorial assessment. He has also served in different administrative capacities including; Directorate Head, Board Chairman; Unilorin Petrol Station, 2013-2017, Dam Site and Drama Village Head of Department of Economics, 2011-2012, Dean of Postgraduate School, 2019-2021, Senate Representative in Council 2024-date etc.
As a sport man and a lover of sports, Professor Bello was a foot-baller, a volley ball player of repute, and had participated in it from secondary school to the university level.

Prof. Mariam Abdulraheem-Mustapha

Mal. Abdulrasheed Gidado Dauda, B.Sc, PGD, MDS, fipn, mnim.
Holds a Master of Development Studies from Bayero University Kano, PGD (Environmental Mgt) and B.Sc Economics from the University of Maiduguri. He is a fellow of the Institute of Planning, Member Nigerian Institute of Management among other professional bodies.
At various times, he worked with Olusola Adekanola & Co, Stabilini Visinoni Ltd, Yobe State Teaching Service and University of Maiduguri.
With about 30 years of post-graduation experience, he is presently Deputy Director in the Academic Planning Unit and Member of the Governing Council of the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.

Mr. Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, FCIML, assumed office as the 7th Registrar of the University of Ilorin on April 28, 2023. With over 25 years of experience in university administration, Mr. Alfanla has been a dedicated member of the University of Ilorin community since 1998.
Born in Ilorin, Nigeria, he holds degrees in English/Mass Communication from Bayero University Kano and Law from the University of Ilorin. He began his career as an Administrative Assistant and steadily advanced to become a Deputy Registrar in 2016.
A seasoned administrator, Mr. Alfanla has also been an active participant in trade unionism, serving as Branch Chairman and National Treasurer of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU). He is a member of several professional bodies, including ANUPA, NIM, NBA, AUA (UK), and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (CIML), USA. His contributions extend beyond the university, where he has served as Secretary of the Ilorin Emirate Staff Association.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Moji Taibat Bakare-Odunola, was born on October 2nd 1960 to the family of Alhaji Yusuf Akano Bakare in Offa, Kwara State.
A Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, she holds a B.Sc degree in Chemistry from the University of Maiduguri in 1984. She was also at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, for her Master’s and Ph.D degrees in 1987 and 1992, respectively.
Prof. Bakare-Odunola started her academic career at ABU in 1987 as an Assistant Lecturer. She rose to the rank of Professor in 2006. After serving ABU for 25 years, she transferred her services to the University of Ilorin in 2012, specifically the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry.
She had previously served as Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry; President, Science Association of Nigeria (SAN); Coordinator, African Centre for Herbal Research, Ilorin (ACHRI); Dean, Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin; and pioneer Director, Centre for Management and Leadership, University of Ilorin.
She is also a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities Taskforce Working Group (Finance and Funding), Chairperson of Offa Professors’ Forum, and a founding member of Offa Ladies Professional Forum. She is also a life member of West African Society of Pharmacology, and a member of the Board of Trustees of StandTall Africa Initiative.
Prof. Bakare-Odunola is happily married to Dr. Rasheed Odunola and they are blessed with children.

Prof. Adegboyega Adisa Fawole holds an MBBS from the University of Ilorin (1984), FWACS (1994), a Certificate in Health Information & Management (1997), and FICS (2004). Born on June 5, 1961, in Iwo, Osun State, he completed his primary education across various schools in Iwo and Ibadan and later attended Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos (1973-78). He earned his MBBS from the University of Ilorin in 1984 and completed his postgraduate training at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital from 1986 to 1994.
Prof. Fawole was appointed Lecturer I at the University of Ilorin and Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist at the Teaching Hospital in 1994. He became a Professor at the university in March 2014. His research interests include Gynae-Oncology and Community Obstetrics. Prof. Fawole has served on numerous committees within the University, the University Council, the University Teaching Hospital, and the West African College of Surgeons, where he also served on the Council. His hobbies include reading, games, and movies. Prof. Fawole is married, with children and grandchildren.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Technology and Innovation), Prof. Muhtar Adeiza Etudaiye, was born on December 24, 1966 to the family of Alhaji Musa Etudaiye in Okene, Kogi State.
A Professor of Law, he holds the LL.B degree in Common Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1988). He was subsequently called to the bar after graduating from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, in 1989. He went to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, for his LL.M degree (1999) and the University of Ilorin, where he obtained his Ph.D degree in 2010.
Prof. Etudaiye started his academic career at Kogi State University in 2002 as Lecturer II and was employed at the University of Ilorin in 2003. He rose to the rank of Professor in 2017.
He has written several articles in both national and international journals of repute such as the Essex Human Rights Review, Lexigentia, Journal of Malaysian and Comparative Law, Journal Jurisprudence, and the IIC – International Review of Intellectual Property and Competition Law amongst others.
Prof. Etudaiye has previously served as Sub-Dean, Faculty of Law (2010-2012); Head of the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law (2012-2014); Director, Centre for Research Development and In-house Training (CREDIT), University of Ilorin in 2019; and Chairman, University Admissions Committee since 2023. He was also a Member, Legal Committee of the National Council on Privatisation between 2010 and 2015.
He is a member of several professional bodies including the National Association of Law Teachers (NALT) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). He is certified as an accreditor in higher education by the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNA) and AfriQAN as well as a graduate of the Virtual Institute for Capacity Building in Higher Education (VICBHE) Module 3 on Strategic Planning in higher education.
Prof. Etudaiye is happily married to Dr. Fatima Oyebola Etudaiye-Muhtar, and they are blessed with children.

Mr. Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, FCIML, assumed office as the 7th Registrar of the University of Ilorin on April 28, 2023. With over 25 years of experience in university administration, Mr. Alfanla has been a dedicated member of the University of Ilorin community since 1998.
Born in Ilorin, Nigeria, he holds degrees in English/Mass Communication from Bayero University Kano and Law from the University of Ilorin. He began his career as an Administrative Assistant and steadily advanced to become a Deputy Registrar in 2016.
A seasoned administrator, Mr. Alfanla has also been an active participant in trade unionism, serving as Branch Chairman and National Treasurer of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU). He is a member of several professional bodies, including ANUPA, NIM, NBA, AUA (UK), and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (CIML), USA. His contributions extend beyond the university, where he has served as Secretary of the Ilorin Emirate Staff Association.

Mr Abiodun Lawal, FCNA, assumed office as the 8th Bursar of the University on November 1st, 2024.
The first alumnus of the University to become a Bursar of the institution, Mr Lawal was born in Lagos in 1968.
He attended Eletu-Odibo High School, Abule-Oja, Lagos, between 1981 and 1986, following which he got his first degree (Accounting) and Master’s degree (Business Administration) from the University of Ilorin in 1995 and 2001 respectively.
Mr Lawal joined the services of the University in 1998 as an Accountant ll. He rose through the ranks to become a Deputy Bursar in 2017. He had previously served as the Financial Controller, College of Health Sciences, University of llorin.
A Fellow of the Certified National Accountant (FCNA), Mr Lawal had earlier worked with the Institute of Stockbrokers, Lagos.
He had served the University in various capacities. He was a Congregation Representative on the Search Team for the Appointment of the Vice Chancellor in 2022. He was also a member of the Committee on Campus Security and adhoc Committee on Preliminary Review of Career Structure for Bursary Staff, where he served as the Chairman as well as Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), UNILORIN Branch Savings and Loan Scheme.
He is married and blessed with children.

Prof. Kamal Tunde Omopupa, University Librarian, University of Ilorin, Ilorin (October 2022- To Date)
Professor Omopupa Kamal Tunde was born over 50 years ago at Omopupa compound, Alanamu quarters in Ilorin. He attended Government High School, Ilorin for his Secondary education; and studied both in Nigeria and abroad for his tertiary education including at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Bayero University, Kano, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, University of Ibadan; and the University of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Library and Information Science (BUK), Masters in Industrial and Labour Studies (Unilorin), a Master in Library Studies (UI); and a PhD in Library and Information Science (Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa). Prof. Omopupa, a professor in Library and Information Science, has published widely in that field in referred journals within Nigeria and across the world; and is a member of distinguished academic and professional Associations including the Academic Staff Union (ASUU), National Association for Promotion of Studies in Religions, Education and Language, Nigerian Library Association (NLA); and a fellow of Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals(CILIP).
Prof. Kamal Omopupa was a former Ag. Head of department, Library and Information Science at the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (2008), a former Ag. Head, Department of Library and Information Science, University of Ilorin (2018-2020), a member of the Unilorin Senate representing the Faculty of Communication and Information Science (2021-until appointed University Librarian); and a member of other statutory University / Faculty based committees. He is also a member of the Ilorin Central Mosque Library Board amongst several others within and outside the University of Ilorin.
