CILS acquires new books
….hails Yusuf Ali’s support

The Centre for Ilorin Studies (CILS), University of Ilorin, has acquired new relevant books and materials worth ₦1,810,100 to stock its literature collections.
This was disclosed last Tuesday (July 7, 2026) by the Director of the Centre, Prof. Issa Olanrongbe Sanusi, in a chat with UNILORIN Bulletin.
Prof. Sanusi, who thanked the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for approving the purchase of the books, said that the materials were purchased from the sum of ₦2,000,000 recently donated to the Centre by the Kuliya of Ilorin, Prof. Ola-Olu Ali, SAN.
He explained that the renowned legal luminary and philanthropist had made the donation to assist the Centre to acquire relevant Arabic and Islamic books, monographs, and manuscripts written by renowned Arabic and Islamic scholars of Ilorin Emirate origin or on the Emirate to equip the CILS library.
The Director added that having sourced for the relevant materials and gotten their cost implications, the Vice Chancellor graciously approved the request, and the Bursar subsequently released the money for the purpose for which it was intended.
Prof. Sanusi, who teaches at the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, said that the materials were procurred from renowned Arabic and Islamic Training Schools such as Azumratul Adabiyyah Al-Kamaliyyah, Okekere, Ilorin; the Markaz Tahaleemul Arobbiy, Agege, Lagos State; the Azumratul Mu’min, Agbaji, Ilorin and Ad-Dawatul Islamiyyah Book Centre, Oshodi, Lagos State.
The Director pointed-out that the acquired materials will no doubt be of immense benefit to our students, the general public, and other categories of researchers who do visit the CILS library.
While thanking Prof. Ali for his consistent support for and fraternity with the Centre and the University at large, the Director appealed to the authorities of the University to assist the Centre towards acquiring more bookshelves in order to accommodate and display the newly-acquired materials at the Centre.
He also appealed to other indigenes, residents and friends of the Ilorin Emirate to emulate the good gesture of Prof. Ali through financial and material support to the CILS in the interest of the younger and future generations and in order to ensure the preservation of the cultural and intellectual heritages of the Ilorin Emirate.
