The Vice Chancellor (Management Services), University of Ilorin, Prof. Olalere Adeyemi, has appealed to both private and public hostel managers in the University to improve the quality of their services in line with the standards set by the University.
Prof. Adeyemi made the call last Tuesday (April 14, 2026) during a meeting held with hostel managers as part of efforts by the University administration to strengthen collaboration and enhance students’ welfare on campus.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor appreciated the hostel managers for the roles they are playing in providing accommodation and maintaining order within the hostels, noting that their efforts remain critical to the overall student experience.
While commending them for their commitment so far, Prof. Adeyemi urged the managers not to relent but to build on their current performance. He stressed the need for continuous improvement in areas such as facility maintenance, water supply, sanitation, and responsiveness to students’ needs, in order to align with the University’s vision of excellence.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor assured the managers that the University Administration remains open to addressing their concerns, adding that all genuine demands and challenges presented by the managers would receive due attention, in line with established guidelines and policies.
In his remarks, the Ag. Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Alex Morenikeji Akanmu, called on hostel managers to support and cooperate with the new Deputy Vice Chancellor to ensure his success in office. He noted that achieving the goals of the University, particularly in student accommodation and welfare, requires collective effort and alignment with the policies of the Administration.
Dr Akanmu, who also encouraged the managers to maintain open communication with the University leadership by freely sharing their expectations and challenges, assured them that the Vice Chancellor and his management team are receptive to constructive feedback and committed to addressing genuine concerns to improve service delivery and students living conditions.
