The General Manager of the UNILORIN 89.3 FM, Mr Idris Akintola Ibrahim (Alooma), has pledged support for the campus journalists in order to further promote and project the activities of the University of Ilorin to the rest of the world.

Mr Alooma gave the assurance last Thursday (October 29, 2026) while addressing the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ) during a courtesy visit to the station.

He noted that UCJ is not only working for the progress of students but also working for the whole system.

The General Manager commended the role of UCJ towards the success of the University of Ilorin in terms of research and other achievements.

He also acknowledged the UCJ for partnering with the University and also collaborating with the UNILORIN FM radio station, stressing that their programmes are developing the system, giving students content and also grooming them to be good broadcasters.

He equally advised them to improve on their annual publication, hold workshops and also be consistent with their programmes as the case may be.

The General Manager also called on members of the UCJ to reach out to those who are making waves in the real world to come to their aid for donations and for building a Secretariat on campus.

Earlier, in her opening remarks, the President of the UCJ, UNILORIN Branch, Adeleke Asmau, expressed gratitude to the Directorate of Corporate Affairs and UNILORIN 89.3 FM for granting approval for 30 minutes of airtime for their programmes last session, which she described as very impactful as she sought for more support.

The UCJ President informed her host that the induction ceremony for newly admitted students who have interest in becoming members of the Association will hold on November 13, and she sought the station’s support for its success.
