The Ilorin Chapter of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN) has celebrated Miss Esther Moyinoluwa Santo for emerging as the 2026 Best Female Graduating Student of the Department of Accounting, University of Ilorin.
Miss Santo, who graduated at the age of 20, made a CCGP of 4.85 at the end of her four years training at the University.
Presenting an award to Miss Santo last Thursday (October 29, 2026) at the Office of the Head of the Department of Accounting, the Chairperson of the Ilorin Chapter of SWAN, Mrs Bilikisu Bola Lawal, said that the annual award was aimed at encouraging academic and professional excellence among female accounting students of the University.
Mrs Lawal, who described SWAN as an affiliate of the Chartered Institute of Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), congratulated Miss Santo for her encouraging brilliance and astonishing integrity as she urged her to continue to be committed to career growth, personal and community development.
While thanking Miss Santo for justifying her parents’ investment, Mrs Lawal promised that the award would hopefully be extended to the best graduating male student of the Department as time progresses.
In her remarks at the event, a former Head of the Department, Prof. Khadijat Adenola Yahaya, expressed delight with the performance of the honouree.
Prof. Yahaya, who is also a chartered accountant, urged Miss Santo to always be humble and maintain her integrity, saying that if she does the sky would not limit her career progression.
Prof. Yahaya, who is also an ex-Officio Member of SWAN, encouraged Miss Santo to adhere strictly to all the advice given to her and never allow her success to derail her from deserving and enjoying an enviable future.
Also speaking, the Head of the Department, Dr Ezekiel Adigbole commended SWAN for sustaining the annual programme.
Dr Adigbole pointed out that Miss Santo did not only emerge as the best graduating student of the Department but also the best from the entire Faculty of Management Sciences.
Responding, Miss Santo thanked the Ilorin SWAN for the honour, which, she said, “was unexpected but extremely exciting”.
Miss Santo, who hails from Idanre, Ondo State, thanked all her lecturers, particularly Prof. Yahaya, who was her Level Adviser, for their positive impacts on her since her first day as a student of the Department.
The honouree, who has also qualified as a chartered accountant, promised to continue to be a pride to the Department, the University of Ilorin, SWAN and the accounting profession.
The event was witnessed by several dignitaries including a senior member of SWAN, Mrs Bashirat Onigbogi, among others.
