The President of the Pakata Area Development Association (PADA), Mr Murtala Alowonle, has, again, commended the University of Ilorin on its positive impacts on the growth and development of the entire Ilorin Emirate, particularly Pakata community.
Mallam Alowonle gave this commendation last Tuesday (October 20, 2026) while commissioning the projects implemented by members of the 2026 Group 7 of the University’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) posted to Pakata for their Community Based Experience Scheme (COBES).
He said that he and other members of the community were impressed that the students could mobilise resources for the renovation of a classroom at Barakat LGEA Primary School, Ilorin; and Government Girls Day Secondary School, Pakata, Ilorin and also carried out the repair of a damaged borehole facility with the provision of pumping machine for the use of staff and students of the School, among other positive interventions.
Mr Alowonle also thanked the students for the provision of solar-power facilities at the Pakata Health Centre, Ilorin, which he said would enhance the security of the health facility and the patients who patronised it particularly at night.
He assured the students that the projects would be effectively used by the beneficiaries to enhance human development.
The community leader also expressed satisfaction with the emergence of a member of the last year’s team to the community, Mr Abdulkadir Jimoh, as the best graduating student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the year 2026.
Mr Alowonle, who specifically thanked the Coordinator of the Scheme, Prof. Lanre Shuaib-Babaita for the quality guidance provided the students, said that members of the community would continue to look forward towards more of such interventions.
