By Mustafa Abubakar
A senior staff member of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Muizdeen Mahmud Adewole, has been inaugurated as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Kwara State Chapter of the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), alongside other members of the new Executive Committee.
The new Executive Committee, which will serve for a three-year tenure, was inaugurated penultimate Wednesday (October 21, 2026) at the Justice AbdulQuadri Orire Mosque, GRA, Ilorin, the secretariat of the Association. Mr Adewole is expected to coordinate the chapter’s public communication and image-building activities as part of efforts to strengthen the visibility and effectiveness of MMPN in the state.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Adewole thanked members of the association for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to run an open, responsive and inclusive communication system for the chapter. He said his priority would be to project the good works of MMPN, strengthen its relationship with media organisations and the public, and ensure that the voice of Muslim media practitioners in Kwara State is heard with clarity, accuracy and dignity.
He also urged members to see the association as a platform for service and not self-promotion, noting that responsible journalism, truthfulness and unity remain the strongest tools for promoting Islam and serving the Muslim Ummah. Mr Adewole assured the leadership that he would work closely with the executive and all stakeholders to reposition the chapter for greater visibility, relevance and impact.
The inauguration also featured the unveiling of representatives from various media organisations across Kwara State, in a move aimed at expanding the Association beyond existing NUJ chapel structures and bringing more Muslim media practitioners into its fold.
Representing the University of Ilorin on the expanded structure is Mr Tajudeen Babamale, who was unveiled as the representative of the chapter.
The North Central Coordinator of MMPN and Chairman of the Shuurah Committee, Mallam Mustafa Abubakar, said the initiative was designed to provide a fresh beginning for the Association, urging members to place the interest of Islam and the Muslim Ummah above personal considerations.
He described MMPN as a non-political organisation established to unite Muslim media practitioners and promote responsible media practice in the service of Islam and the Muslim community.
The inauguration marked another step towards strengthening the Kwara chapter and creating a broader network of Muslim media practitioners across television, radio, print and online platforms.
