Alafara bags FARST
The Governing Council of the Academy of Innovative Research, Science & Technological Development (AcIRSTD) last Thursday (October 29, 2026) conferred the Fellowship of the Academy of Researchers, Scientists & Technologists (FARST) on the immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdullahi Alafara Baba,
The event, which was part of the International Conference on Science, Engineering and Sustainable Green Technology, held at the Nigerian National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja.
Apart from Prof. Alafara, who is also the President, Materials Science and Technology Society of Nigeria (MSTSN), the award was also conferred on 17 other distinguished scholars across Nigeria.
The Fellowship, according to the organisers, was granted to Prof. Alafara in recognition of his extraordinary contributions, innovative research, and outstanding leadership in the advancement of science, technology, and national development.
In a chat with UNILORIN Bulletin after the event, Prof. Alafara expressed his gratitude to Allah for adding another award to his credentials. He equally thanked the organisers of the event for finding him worthy of the recognition.
He also thanked the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and his management team for their consistent support for him and other staff members of the University, which has been culminating in their excellent performances.
While promising to continue to discharge his responsibilities to the University, Prof. Alafara assured the management that he would do everything within his province towards monitoring younger colleagues for the benefit of the University and the nation at large.
