In recognition of theĀ  marvellous service delivery obtainable at the University of Ilorin, the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Mr Adekimi Ojo, has described the Computer-Based Test Centre of the University as “excellent”.

Mr Ojo gave this commendation penultimate Friday (April 17, 2026) when he visited the University to observe the conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UMTE) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) across the nation.

The Police Commissioner, who was visibly impressed with the quality of service enjoyed by the candidates that sat for the examinations at the Centre, said that if every Examinations Centre was like that of the University, the alleged negative stories surrounding public examinations in the country would have been remarkably different.

Mr Ojo encouraged the University to continue to do its best for it to maintain its leadership positions at regional and national levels.

Also speaking, some of the candidates agreed with the assessment of Mr Ojo as they expressed gratitude to the management of the University for providing functional healthcare services at the Centre.

The candidates said that arrangements were made for their health emergencies, pointing out that they received swift and professional handling by the health professionals attached to the Centre by the University.

Reacting, the Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, Prof. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, who was one of those who conducted the police chief round the Centre, thanked Mr Ojo for the visit.

Prof. Abdulbaqi told the Police Commissioner that the University was the first institution of higher learning in Nigeria that introduced CBT examinations in Nigeria, adding that the record was achieved during the tenure of the current Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON, during his tenure as the Vice Chancellor of the University between 2007 and 2012.

While noting that the University remains the nation’s best in terms of service delivery, the Dean, who is also a member of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), assured the Police Commissioner and other stakeholders that the University would continue to offer exemplary services to its students and the society at large.
