University School shines in 2026 BECE

…..records 93% pass

In confirmation of its excellent service delivery, the University School, University of Ilorin, has recorded a superlative performance in the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO). BECE is the examinations sat for by Basic 9 students of Junior Secondary Schools across the country.

This was disclosed by the Head Teacher of the School, Mr Masud Ibrahim Salihu, in a memo addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN Bulletin.

According to the memo, the School recorded 100% success in Mathematics, French, Arabic and Yoruba while 97% was recorded in English Studies and Business Studies.

Mr Salihu added that 89% was achieved in Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Religious Studies as well as in Cultural and Creative Arts.

He further reported that 84% was achieved by the School in Basic Science and Technology while 76% was recorded in Pre-Vocational Studies as 95% was posted in National Value Education and History.

The Head Teacher concluded that the analysis of the results showed that the School’s Overall Performance in the examinations was 93% as it did well in all the 13 subjects it presented candidates for.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole,SAN, has applauded the School for always doing the University proud.

Prof. Egbewole, in a statement issued by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun saluted the efforts of the Head Teacher and staff members of the School.

He pointed-out that the performance was, no doubt, an unambiguous reflection of the hardwork and determination of the management, staff and students of the School.

While assuring the School of more support, Prof. Egbewole encouraged the management and staff of the institution to continue to inculcate appropriate quality and magnitude of knowledge and moral values in their students for them to become responsible global citizens.
