Egbewole commends Committee on successful investiture ceremony

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has commended members of the Planning Committee on Investiture of Unilorin Ambassadors, Distinguished Alumni, and Award of Excellence for their outstanding planning and flawless execution of the investiture ceremony.

The ceremony, held last Wednesday (July 16, 2025), at the University Auditorium, was a resounding success, showcasing the Committee’s exemplary professionalism, creativity, attention to detail, and teamwork.

Members of the Committee are: Prof. Abdulrasheed Adeoye, Chairman; Prof. W. B. Yahya, Dr Alex Akanmu, Mr Kunle Akogun, Mrs Azeezat Q. Ibrahim, Mr Oluwasegun Alabi, and Mr Mubarak Akintola, Secretary.

Receiving the Committee members in his office last Thursday (July 17, 2025), Prof. Egbewole observed that the event’s seamless programme flow, dignified stage management, efficient guest handling, and tasteful branding of the venue collectively produced a superlative experience that reflected positively on the University.

The Vice Chancellor, in his commendation, noted that the occasion was in a class of its own, with feedback from honourees, their family members, University community members, staff, students, and guests being uniformly glowing.

“Many praised the warm hospitality, thoughtful seating arrangements, crisp audiovisuals, and security coordination, which altogether depicted a University that has truly come of age at 50”, Prof. Egbewole submitted.

The renowned Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law further stated that the Committee’s efforts not only celebrated the distinguished awardees but also strengthened alumni pride, external goodwill, and the reputation of the University at a strategic moment in its Golden Jubilee year. He expressed confidence that the Committee’s delivery would inspire renewed confidence in the success of the broader 50th Anniversary celebrations.

In recognition of the outstanding work of the Committee, Prof. Egbewole requested that they document and share a brief After-Action/Lessons-Learnt Report, including challenges, cost efficiencies, vendor performance notes, and recommendations, with the Central 50th Anniversary Planning Committee within two weeks.

The Vice Chancellor later presented Letters of Commendation to each member of the Committee.

 In his response, the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Adeoye, who is also the Director of Academic Planning (DAP), commended the foresight of the management in instituting the awards.

He praised the commitment of the University to excellence and its celebration of its distinguished alumni.

Prof. Adeoye thanked the Vice Chancellor for trusting him and other members of the Committee with the assignment.
