
Olokoba elected SOGHIN’s new president

A Professor at the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Abdulfatai Bamidele Olokoba, has been elected the new President of the Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Nigeria (SOGHIN).
The election of Prof. Olokoba was the highlight of the 17th Annual General Meeting of the Society, held in Ibadan penultimate Friday (June 27, 2025).
The don, who is also an alumnus of the University of Ilorin, took over the leadership of the professional body from the Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, who has completed his four years tenure.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Olokoba thanked members of the Society for the confidence reposed in him as he assured them that he and his colleagues in the new Executive Committee would do everything within their capacities to take the body to higher heights.
