Board commends UNILORIN for accepting NBAIS results

By Temitope Omoniyi

The Zonal Coordinator of the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS), Zone 5, Ilorin, Mr Muhyideen Hambali, has expressed gratitude of the Board to the University of Ilorin Senate for accepting NBAIS results for admission into Arabic and Islamic Studies and related courses, following the approval of the National Council on Education.

Mr Hambali gave the commendation last Monday (May 5, 2025) when he visited the Registrar of the University of Ilorin and Secretary of the Senate, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla.

The Zonal Coordinator was represented by a delegation led by the Zonal Head of Administration, Mr El-Bashir Salamat Kasum. Other members of delegation include the Zonal Assistant Director, Quality Assurance Department, Mrs Amina Ibrahim; and the Zonal Accountant and Financial Officer, Mrs Azeezat Adeola Olagunju.

The National Council on Education had, in its 59th meeting in 2013, directed all regulatory agencies and institutions to recognise the Senior Arabic and Islamic School Certificate Examination (SAISSCE) for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Mr Hambali also announced that the Board will soon commence conducting Ordinary Level examinations in accredited secondary schools once full legislative backing is secured.

He stated that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen relationships and raise awareness about the Board’s mandate within the University. The Ilorin Zonal office of NBAIS oversees Kwara, Kogi, Ondo, and Ekiti State offices.

He added that the Board’s mandate had expanded beyond Arts and Social Sciences to include conducting O-level examinations in Arts, Sciences, Management, and Social Science subjects, similar to WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB.

In his remarks, the UNILORIN Registrar, Mr Alfanla, thanked the Board for the visit and assured that the University, as a law-abiding institution, would accept NBAIS results upon receiving regulatory approvals.
