It all began on Sunday, April 13, 2025, when Sanusi Akanbi Kazeem, a 400-level Mathematics student, embarked on a record-breaking attempt to deliver a marathon mathematics lecture. For an astonishing 31 hours, 42 minutes, and 54 seconds, Kazeem taught mathematics, surpassing the existing 26-hour benchmark for the ‘Longest Mathematics Lesson’. This remarkable achievement has been hailed by Guinness World Records, which is currently reviewing the feat.

Kazeem’s incredible feat is a testament to the student’s potential for greatness, as praised by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. The governor’s congratulatory message underscores the significance of this achievement, which not only brings pride to Unilorin but also showcases the institution’s commitment to academic excellence.

Last year, Mr. Qudus Owoyemi, a 400-level student of the Department of Statistics, set a new world record for the fastest time devoted to completing five skin fade haircuts, accomplishing the feat in just 14 minutes, 56 seconds, and 83 milliseconds. The institution recently won a prestigious award at the 2nd National Spokespersons Summit (NSS), organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation in Abuja. Unilorin was adjudged the ‘Best Corporate Share of Voice (Social Media)’ institution, recognizing its excellent exploration of social media to maintain efficient communication and engagement with stakeholders.
