An Emeritus Professor at the University of Ilorin, Musibau Adewumi Akanji, has charged Muslims to ensure that the ongoing Ramadan season becomes a turning point in their lives.

Emerit. Prof. Akanji, who quoted several portions of the Holy Quran and scientific findings, gave this advice penultimate Friday (March 14, 2025) in his weekly spiritual exultation, a copy of which was sighted by UNILORIN Bulletin.

The renowned scholar said that Muslims must ensure purposive attitudinal reorientation and spiritual rejuvenation in the course of this Ramadan because they are constantly exposed to quality and extensive scholarly interpretations of the Glorious Quran through various mosques and other physical gatherings and through the instrumentality of the traditional mass media and social media platforms.

Emerit.Prof. Akanji, who is a former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna and Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, explained that the Ramadan season, more than any other period of the lunar calendar, provides opportunities for Muslims to know more about their creator and worship Him spiritually and physically and as intensively as possible.

The renowned scholar of Biochemistry, who is also a distinguished Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science, equally charged well-to-do Muslims to ensure that they share their provisions with their neighbours and relations, particularly those who are less endowed in order to promote love and understanding.

He added that since it is certain that every human being would surely die at one point or the other, it should be kept in mind that he or she would be raised to give account of his or her life before the Almighty Allah.

Emerit. Prof. Akanji explained that though no one has come back to life after death to explain his experience but since Allah has said that we would all be raised after death to account for our sojourn on earth, we should be prepared for that encounter through our actions and activities while on earth.
