T he Chairman of the Programme Sub-committee of the UNILORIN 50th Anniversary Planning Committee, Prof. Olu Bolaji, has encouraged members of the Sub-committee to remain unrelenting in their efforts targeted at putting up a befitting anniversary celebration.
Prof. Bolaji, who teaches at the Department of Anaesthesia, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, made this call penultimate Saturday (March 16, 2025) while speaking at a Zoom meeting of the Sub-committee.
The Chairman explained that the success or otherwise of the entire anniversary squarely rests on the Sub-committee because it is the one that is charged with the responsibility of erecting the framework on which the whole celebration would be conducted.
The medical scholar likened the Sub-committee to the skeletal system in a human body, saying that for anyone to effectively live as a human being, his or her skeletal system must be in the right position.
Prof. Bolaji thanked members of the Sub-committee for their contributions and cooperation so far as he said that more efforts are still needed for the Sub-committee to achieve its Terms of Reference.
He added that the Central Planning Committee and the UniversityAdministration expected nothing but the best from the Sub-committee
Prof. Bolaji, who led the members of the Sub-committee to review the proposed programmes of events, said that members should feel free to compare notes with a view to coming up with fascinating suggestions, which would not only be considered but also placed before the Central Committee headed by Prof. Olugbenga Ayodeji Mokuolu for further assessment and possible approval.
Members of the Sub-committee, who spoke, including a member of the University Governing Council, Prof. Mariam Mustapha; and the Chairman of the University of Ilorin Branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr Alex Morenikeji Akanmu, thanked Prof. Bolaji for his inspirational leadership as they assured him of their absolute cooperation.
