12 Unilorites among 20 winners of MEF scholarship

Twelve students of the University of Ilorin were among the 20 indigenes of Oro town in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State studying in various federal universities across Nigeria that received the 2026 Mojirola Educational Foundation Scholarship.
At the scholarship award ceremony held at the Salvation Chamber, Ilorin last Wednesday (May 6, 2026), each of the beneficiaries got a cheque of ₦200,000.
According to the Project Coordinator, Dr Ruth Abiola Adimula, more than 300 applications were received this year, out of whom only 20 were selected after a thorough process.
Dr. Adimula, who lectures at the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin, said that the scholarship was established by Engr Leye Joseph Duntoye, an alumnus of the University of Ilorin and an indigene of Oro.
The Programme Coordinator, who commended Mr Duntoye for sponsoring the annual scholarship award, noted that the strong showing of UNILORIN students reflects the quality of education at the institution and the sponsor’s commitment to giving back to his alma mater.
Among the winners was Adebayo Samuel Adesire, a 500-level Chemical Engineering student at UNILORIN, who received the scholarship for the third consecutive time since 2022.
He commended the quality education provided by the University of Ilorin for boosting his confidence and improving his CGPA from 4.20 to 4.40 and pledged to give back to the Foundation and to indigent citizens when he is able.
Other winners included Oladipo Adebukola Praise, a 200-level Surveying and Geoinformatics student from Ijomu Oro, and Opadiji Rinsola Michelle, a 100-level History and International Studies student, who both thanked God and the sponsor for the motivation to excel academically.
