Why UNILORIN Law Faculty leads others-NAKLAS President

The Executive President of the National Association of Kwara State Law Students (NAKLAS), Mr Abdulbasit O.AbdulRauf, has said that the Faculty of Law of the University of Ilorin is making waves because of the quality training students of the Faculty are exposed to.

Mr AbdulRauf stated this last Tuesday (June 9, 2026) when he paid a working visit to the Directorate of Corporate Affairs of the University

He explained that the results of the last Bar examinations at the Nigerian Law School, where 16 graduates of the Faculty made First Class and the increasing exciting performances of many other alumni of the Faculty in the world of practice confirmed the assertion that the Faculty is truly better by far.

Mr AbdulRauf, who was accompanied by the National General Secretary of the Association, Mr Abdulhafeez Sidiq and its former National Publicity Secretary, Mr Abdulsamad Imam, said that whenever he and his course-mates compared notes with their colleagues from other universities they are usually convinced that their teachers at the Faculty are giving them the best.

He pointed-out that a 100 level student of the Faculty can compete favourably with 300 level students of Law Faculties of other institutions.

The NAKLAS President, who is a final year student, said that the number of students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ilorin who contributed one article or the other to the recent publication of the Association, titled “The Bar, The Bench And The Crown”, which is dedicated to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, and the quality of their contributions show that law students of the better by far University are being “properly groomed to always dominate the bar and the bench”.

Mr AbdulRauf thanked the management of the University under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for enhancing the quality of infrastructures in the Faculty. He said that having travelled far and wide he could confirm that the Faculty is far better and more equipped than many others across the nation.

He equally thanked the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Bashir Omipidan, and other lecturers of the Faculty for adequately grooming students in a way that they would be able to excel in the real world after their graduation.
