UNIWAPBS to hold annual health talk

The University of Ilorin Women Association Pre-Basic School (UNIWAPBS) has announced plans to host its 3rd Annual Health Talk, focusing on strategies to improve the physical well-being and financial literacy of University employees.
In a statement signed by the Association’s Secretary, Mrs Kehinde Akanji, the event will take place on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at the University Auditorium beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Mrs Akanji said the Association led by its President, Mrs Muibat Egbewole, is aimed at promoting awareness on various health-related matters and insights into maintaining a healthy lifestyle within the University community.
She quoted the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Dr Idayat Durotoye as saying this year’s programme centres on the theme “Wellness and Wealth: Achieving Financial and Physical Health for University Staff.”
“The University community has been cordially invited to attend the annual gathering, which aims to promote holistic staff development and institutional productivity. Organisers have designed the session to provide academic and administrative staff with practical insights on balancing healthy lifestyle habits with sound financial planning”, she added.
The Secretary of UNIWAPBS further noted that the event offers a unique opportunity for the university community to gain valuable knowledge and address concerns about personal and collective well-being.
She called on all members of the University community particularly women not to miss the programme as renowned experts will discuss three critical topics.
The Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Olukunmi Olaitan, will treat the topic “Healthy Living Without Spending Much: Practical Strategies for Better Well-Being”. Prof. Olaitan teaches in the Department of Health Promotion Environmental Health Education.
An Associate Professor of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology and Community Health, University of Ilorin, Dr Hafsat Ameen, will be treating the topic “Preventive Healthcare: Saving Money Through Prevention”.
Prof. Raji Bello of the Department of Economics, University of Ilorin, is expected to deliver a lecture on “Financial Planning During Economic Uncertainty: Smart Investing, Tax Planning, and Financial Resilience”.
